“I used to listen to my brother’s music, and I was always interested in how to play the rifts; that’s how I began to play guitar,” said senior Romel Muñoz.

Most people use their lunch period as a social or homework period. However, Muñoz uses his lunch period to focus on playing his music. Sometimes he will help teach his friends how to play guitar. “He’s a pretty good teacher, I am not the best [guitar] student though,” said senior Richard Montez, who plays with Muñoz during first lunch on W-days.

Muñoz makes time everyday to practice his music after school as well. He said he is “not clear on music as a career but possibly as a second choice.” Muñoz records his music on a regular basis and posts it on social networking sites such as Facebook, and likes to receive constructive comments that may help him to improve his music.

Muñoz has written approximately fifteen original songs since he began playing guitar in December of 2008. Said Muñoz about the song-writing process, “usually when I am writing a song, I improvise. If I like it, then I will keep it and add to it, sometimes other songs will inspire me to write different songs.”
