Though still several months away, Prom fever is already sweeping the senior class–a Facebook group dedicated to potential dress choices was created back in January, and already boasts over 100 members and photos from over 20 potential dresses for the June 10 dance at the Key Bridge Marriott.

To keep up with the hype, senior class officers are working to establish a Prom Committee. “A Prom Committee is a way for seniors to work with officers, have input and make decisions about the dance,” said senior class sponsor Ms. Crystal Olivo.

While the exact function of the committee has not yet been determined, as no such organization has existed in years past, the officers hope the group of volunteers will be able to make decisions about the DJ, dance theme and decoration, layout of the top floor ballroom and the budget for the event.

An initial interest meeting for all seniors who want to serve on the committee is scheduled for March 3, and will be held in Ms. Olivo’s room, 3218, after school. After the first meeting, the committee will meet twice a month through June to iron out the details of the evening. Ms. Olivo is optimistic about the potential of this new group. She said, “My hope is that this project will bring the class together in their last big school event before graduation.”
