International precedence
Each year, International Night is hosted by the members of the International Club and co-presidents Sabbah Mughel, Rebekah Phomsopha and Victoria Claros. As the night starts, International Club members and students are looking forward to traditional music, dances and food from all over the world displayed by the students.
Students who are participating in this event have shed a light on how they feel about International Night and they are ready for the celebration to begin. “I’m excited to share my culture in various ways,” freshman Ansah Akhtar said. “I’m going to bring traditional foods from my country, Bangladesh, and wear gorgeous garments!”
It is expected that there will be many performances from around the world, which will share aspects of the different cultures here at the school. International Night was created for everyone to celebrate their countries and the school’s diversity as well as getting to meet new people from all over the world.
“The acts we have are mostly performed by students,” International Club co-president Victoria Claros said. “During the potluck, there’s going to be a runway where again the students will be able to showcase their culture.”
Many students will wear traditional clothes and bring food that is represented by a student’s country. “I’m going to wear a traditional Pakistani dress and I will be helping my mom cook biryani,” freshman Sameen Ahmad said. “I can’t wait to taste all of the foods from the different countries that are represented by W-L.”
