Crossed Sabres editor-in-chief receives national student journalism award

The Crossed Sabres’ editor-in-chief, senior Julia Van Lare, placed second place in the National Scholastic Press Association’s (NSPA) Individual Award in the category of COVID-19 Coverage: Online News or Features. 

Van Lare was recognized for her story “W-L community debates distance learning,” which was published in June. The NSPA’s awards are the most prestigious for high school journalism in the country. Records do not indicate any previous awardees from W-L.
