“Have you ever felt like an outsider?” When I was in the 5th grade, a close friend of mine asked me something that took me by surprise. With a very straight face she asked, Why do you Muslims kill people? I felt like I didnt belong in her life, and I was being labeled as something that Im not. I always felt like I was a part of a group and was welcomed even though I am from a different country, but from then on I began to feel more like an outsider.”
